In the times of climate change, increasing natural hazards can impact industrial facilities by damaging critical infrastructures resulting in both economic and human losses. Effective disaster management can go a long way in preparedness for and mitigation of the impacts of natural catastrophes, thereby increasing industrial safety. The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 stresses the need for factoring in exposure, vulnerability and hazard characteristics of disaster risks in all policies and practices.
We have initiated a flood vulnerability mapping of industries in the State of Kerala to reduce risk with respect to climate and weather-related events towards strengthening climate resilience of industries, through integrated and inclusive measures.
